You have had the chance to shape the vision in the Neighbourhood Plan, now come the objectives.
From an established vision must come the broad objectives and then, from these broad objectives come the policies that will go into the final Neighbourhood Plan. This is important because these objectives will shape the direction that the Neighbourhood Plan goes in.
Following consultation, the objectives have been updated but there is still a question over the wording of Objective 3 so please take a look at the options suggested by following this link to the updated objectives and let us have your views by posting a comment at the bottom of this page.
These were the objectives posted in October 2014:
- Conserve and enhance the environment of the village in order to maintain its distinct rural identity and outstanding landscape setting.
- Maintain and enhance existing and establish new local services and facilities.
- Increase the population at a similar rate to that which has occurred in recent years (average 5 properties per year, around 100 properties in total) whilst maintaining the current age.
- Support local businesses and provide enhanced employment opportunities within the parish including home working.
- Maximise use of the local bus service to improve its viability.
- Minimise the impact of road traffic on the village through the provision of limited traffic calming and adequate parking in any new developments.
- Minimise the adverse environmental effects of new development and provide energy reduction and sustainable energy opportunities for the whole village.

All looks good – maybe under 2. the “local services” should actually specify the Shop/Post Office rather than just imply their importance ? Without them many of the other aspirations/objectives will not follow over the next 20 years.
my comment on HKNP OBJECTIVES ; please add ‘ Ensure the provision of BROADBAND internet connection speed / strength of at least 10 ( as opposed to the currently available 2 )’
